Of my many esoteric interests, tarot divination is perhaps my favorite. I was originally introduced to the tarot when I was active in the Scottish Rite Masons in the early 1990's. While the Masons don't really practice divination as such, most of them are aware that the symbolism expressed in their Masonic degrees has been borrowed from other esoteric sources, including the Tarot.
In support of the tarot community, I hold memberships in both the American Tarot Association and the Canadian Tarot Network. I am a volunteer reader for both the Free Tarot Network and Free Reading Network, providing tarot readings for the public at large, via e-mail request, as well as tutoring new tarot readers, in preparation for their reading for the public. I currently hold a CTM rating from the Canadian Tarot Network, having passed the necessary requirments in August of 2002.
Although few tarot readers have bothered with any sort of certification, I feel that such credentials give the public usable guidelines with which to judge the character and professional bearing of the tarot reader. In the wake of the "Miss Cleo" spectacle, I believe it is incumbent upon established readers to make the effort to disclose to the public their personal code of ethics and professional standing in the tarot community.
My Code of Conduct outlines what I will and will not do as a tarot reader for the public. This is something that is missing from the majority of public tarot readers.
From time to time, I have the opportunity to write articles for the American Tarot Association's on-line magazine, Tarot Reflections, and their hard copy journal, The ATA Quarterly. Many of these articles have also been reprinted by the Canadian Tarot Network in their Quarterly Newsletters, and by Open Ways, a publication of The Nine Houses of Gaia, Inc.
